If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a cat discovers silvervine, let me introduce you to Bean! 😹

I decided to film Bean enjoying a Silvervine stick, and honestly, his reaction was too good not to share.

The moment he gets his paws on it, he’s rolling around, licking it, chewing it and generally having the time of his life. He keeps going for ages, completely absorbed in his own little world!

🐱 What exactly is silver vine?

Silver vine is a climbing plant, native to East Asia that acts as a potent, natural and non-addictive feline stimulant. It can have a fascinating effect on cats. You might have heard of catnip, but silvervine is another natural plant that many cats respond to.

It contains compounds that can trigger playful, excited or relaxed behaviour in some cats. Reactions vary from cat to cat, so while one cat might go absolutely crazy for it, another might barely give it a second glance!

Bean certainly seems to be a fan!

Watching him roll around, lick it and chew on it is brilliant. He looks so happy and entertained, and I could sit and watch him playing for ages.

🐾 Have your cats tried silvervine?

I’d love to know whether your cats enjoy silvervine or whether they’re more interested in catnip. Do they roll around like Bean, or do they have a completely different reaction?

Share your experiences in the comments. I love hearing about other people’s cats and building a community where we can share the funny, curious and wonderful things our cats get up to.
